Hey everyone!
My name is Pierre and I am the snuggliest, nicest boy out. I left in the council pound with no hope, no love, and no time left. Off The Chain rescued me and I have never looked back!
I am fully grown and 43kg. I stand about mid thigh on 170cm tall adults and being 5yrs now, I am only medium energy. I absolutely love other dogs, especially my little foster sister, Anjo. I am used to spending approx 8hrs a day in the yard with the other dog while my carers are at work, and just hang out and play with our toys. I love car rides, and sit nicely and watch the world go by. I love to fetch, and do a cute little pounce when I have reached the ball or toy. My favourite thing is back and belly rubs...they feel amazing and once I learn to trust you, I will happily lay in your lap for some! I like to drag my blankie out into the sun in the morning so I can get some bakin' done! I also like swimming!
I know how to sit, wait for food, shake, and come. I know not to come inside unless asked to - I sleep on the deck at night in my current home, however seem to be house trained. I am great at walking on a leash. I sometimes whine if I we walk past a dog I really want to go and say hi to, but I never bark or growl at anyone! I am also getting better at letting you bath me and clip my nails. I don't love it, but if you have a treat I will do almost anything! On the deck, I have both an open bed and a kennel to choose from, but sometimes prefer to just sleep on the grass! I haven't met cats yet, so should not be rehomed with any. I currently live in a yard with a 5ft wooden fence and that is the perfect height for me.
My ideal home has another dog/s for company, and will take me on walks 3 times a week or more, to see the world and get all the sniffs. I would be happy to sleep on the deck at night or inside if you want. I will be happy behind a 5-6ft fence or electronic system if lower, and should be given a small sandpit and good quality toys to keep me busy while you are home.
Medical notes
When I came into care, I had some dandruff and thinning hair. So for now, my vet has recommended a good quality biscuit and a raw egg cracked on top. I currently eat Large Breed Adult biscuits (at the moment it is Blackhawk and Savourlife) and should stay on a good brand of food. Tip: either order online, or price match- a 20kg bag is around $105, so only about $5/kg
Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All dogs must be collected by the adopting families, from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
