About Charlie
Charlie is an affectionate and handsome young dog who was surrendered along with his two sons. They have since found their forever homes – now it’s Charlie’s turn!
Charlie is a stunningly handsome Catahoula Leopard Dog, around three years of age. He is friendly with other dogs but not-over-the-top. He doesn’t mind having some alone time and will amuse himself by taking a chew toy off to nibble on his own. This mature approach to life is demonstrated in Charlie’s interactions with other people and children – he is calm, sweet and cuddly. His foster carer describes him as being a ‘chilled boy who loves people’.
Something important to note with Charlie is that he must always be fed separately to other dogs. This is just common sense but it will help avoid any issues in his new home. Another note for Charlie is that he isn’t used to cats and his instinct is to chase them, so a home without a cat will save everyone the stress of trying to integrate the two.
This may be hard to believe but Charlie doesn’t wear sunglasses just for looks (although I’m sure you’ll agree he pulls it off beautifully!) Through no fault of his own Charlie inherited a condition from his parents called the Double Merle Gene. This makes him more susceptible to sunburn and there is a risk that he could develop complications from this condition later in life. We would love to see Charlie in a loving home despite this. Complications in life can develop unexpectedly in any dog, not just in those with the Double Merle Gene. If your place has a good undercover area or, even better, Charlie can hang out inside with you, he will be very happy. Our expectation is that Charlie will be adopted by a family who has some understanding of, or have researched, the Double Merle Gene.
This lovely boy will make the most devoted family member and he absolutely deserves a second chance at life. If you’re looking for a handsome and affectionate face to look up to you everyday – Charlie could be your man. Can you give Charlie the chance he deserves?

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS
1. You see a dog you like.
2. Fill in our online adoption form by clicking here or on our website. Be sure to include any questions you may have on our adoption form. This form does not obligate you to adopt, it simply gives us an idea of your situation and needs.
http://farmdogz.com.au/adoption-application-form/
3. If your are successful, one of our volunteers will contact you to organise a meet and greet at your home and conduct a yard check at the same time.
4. Should all go to plan, you will be welcomed to start your 2 week trial period immediately. Adoption fee will be required to be paid at the beginning of the trial period.
During the 2 week trial period, should you decide that this dog is not for you, you are welcome to return the dog (the more notice the better, to ensure we have a foster carer available) and your payment will be retunded to you in full, within 3 business days of the return of the dog.
**PLEASE NOTE: WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US BEFORE FILLING IN OUR ONLINE ADOPTION FORM**.
We are a volunteer run organisation, who have their own jobs during the day, we don't have someone manning our phones 24/7, therefore cannot respond to all inquiries immediately. The fastest way to have your questions answered is to include it in the application form. This will speed up your application with us, and help us communicate with you faster.
Please be patient with us, as the unpredictable nature of rescue may prevent us from clearing all enquiries regularly.
