About Bebe ~ 6 yr old Red Heeler ~ On Hold 21/7/20
Introducing our special needs girl Bebe. Bebe is a 6 year old Red Heeler who came to us with her sisters Honey and Evie. All three of these girls are very timid with people they don’t know, however they do connect when given time and space.
Bebe is the least confident of the girls - she will sit the furthest away from new people as she can - if she could melt into the background she would. If you approach she will quietly move herself to another location - putting as much distance between you as she can. She is too shy to be bribed with tasty treats currently but with a lot of time and patience that does change.
Bebe has learnt to trust her foster dad so we know she’s got it in her to connect with people. We are looking for a very loving environment with family members who are prepared to put in the hard work to grow her confidence and become her best friends.
Bebe is considerably overweight (she has been compared to a piano stool!) as doesn’t get walked currently. Leaving the property is far too overwhelming for her so learning to walk on lead once she’s away from her sisters will help with her confidence, help with her fear of the outside world and also assist with her weight management.
Having Bebe and her sisters together is holding them back as they can feed off each other’s anxiety. Her sister Honey will often stand in the way of new people in an attempt to shield her more timid sister from them. Moving Bebe into a loving, adoptive family will help her to develop into a happier and more confident dog. This beautiful girl wants so desperately to be loved and at ease in her surroundings.
Bebe will suit a quiet home with no young children (they would be too overwhelming) and a person or couple who have experience with timid dogs. She is good with other dogs so if you have a calm, friendly adult dog to be a role model for her then that will certainly assist her rehabilitation. She won’t suit a single dog family as she requires the support of other dogs to feel at ease.
Due to her plumpness she’s not a fence jumper nor is she your typical energetic Red Heeler. She’s low maintenance energy-wise, so she may suit a small yard as long as she has a safe, quiet place to retire to when you have visitors. Bebe may even suit small-acreage which is properly fenced (no cattle fencing) - with the right family she may even discover that she’s a cattle dog at some stage!
Bebe is a very special girl who is looking for her place in the world. If you feel that you can offer her a safe and positive furever home then please email us at rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Bebe is in foster care near Medowie, NSW (north of Newcastle).
Bebe’s adoption fee is $250 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatments. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Bebe requires a diet and exercise once she is confident enough for an exercise regime

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
