About Patches ~ 6 yo Cattle x Staffy (On Trial 23/3/20)
Hello friends! My name is Patches, I am a six-year-old female Cattle x Staffy. I love being around any number of people and am happiest when I am soaking up loads of attention. I am always wagging my tail and despite my size, I love to sit on laps if you let me. I’m looking for a new family to love and spoil me.
I love my human bonding time, but I’m not demanding of high-energy activities - sitting next to you on the lounge is just fine. I don’t mind if you go to work during the day as long as you come home and give me lots of scratches at the end of the day. My foster parents sometimes work long 12-hour shifts which doesn’t faze me. I might bark occasionally at noises or the gate when you come home but I quickly settle down again on my own. I’ve never met a human I haven’t loved right off the bat. I sleep outside at night but am always keen to come hang inside if you let me. I need to go
I am already housetrained and know which furniture is mine. I will go to my chair or bed when asked and come bounding over if you call my name. I wasn’t taught much when I was younger but am trying to learn commands such as sit and stay, but it’s taking time as I’m easily distracted, and I’m not easily bribed by treats. I am happy to relax attached a lead if we are away from home, but don’t have much off-leash training.
I do get excited when you come home and like to jump up with my big frame so I’m better off with adults or teenagers. While I did use to live with a bigger dog in a past life, I don’t get along very well with the smaller dogs I've met recently. I really need to go to a home with no other dogs, and not have contact with other dogs as i don't get along with them in my older age. I’d much prefer to have you all to myself and have all the attention on me. I have largely ignored my foster parent’s budgie except for the occasional passing glance.
I can be a bit lazy and don’t really like to walk on the lead any distance. Sometimes I have to get carried home if I’m not feeling it, bribes won’t work remember! So I don’t really mind if you can’t walk me every day. I do get enough exercise myself even in the small yard I have now. I was a very big girl before going into foster care, and am now looking much better! I can get in the mood for fetch but don’t understand how to give the ball back yet! I’m happy to play in the yard with my toys or just lie and soak up the sun. Also, the usual suspects like garden hoses, thunderstorms, and digging holes have all never been an issue for me.

(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
