About Maze
How many barn cats does it take to catch a mouse?
Well if it's Astra and Maze you're talking about the answer is two - one to do the work and one to supervise! 🤣
Most of the cats we rehome as shed cats/barn buddies are highly active, prey-driven, rodent catching machines - or at least that's how they look!
But Maze isn't pulling any punches. This girl is a chubby loaf of a cat who survived on the streets, raising her kittens on her own, for more than 12 months. Now that she's been in foster care for almost another 12 months, she's pretty done with constantly fighting to survive.
Despite the fact that their life stories are almost identical, Astra is the opposite - she's a standard bundle-of-energy barn buddy!
So, the short version of this story is that both Astra and Maze have been waiting close to a year to find their lucky break. We're hoping that a little humour will help them find the home they deserve but we don't want them to be over-looked again! Although Maze really is a chunk of a girl, she LOVES food and she has also survived on her own for a long time prior to coming into care. So once she's out on a property, we are actually pretty confident she will be a great rat-catcher. And Astra is a quirky little girl who loves to dart up to her foster carer at food time but then dart away again after a very quick stroke of the tail.
They are not related despite their similar appearances. Both were born on the streets and then had kittens of their own out there, though in bothc ases they were fed by kind members of the public to help them survive.
As they have been around people for so long they aren't at all aggressive - they just don't want to be touched! Both girls are perfectly litter trained and very neat and tidy so they certainly don't have to be adopted as shed cats - if you were willing to adopt a cat or two who want to be left alone do to their own things all the time, that would be great too!
Anyway, Astra and Maze are free to adopt either together or separately. Both are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and flea/worm treated (so any donations towards their vet work are greatly appreciated!!)
Please please share these girls around. A new kitten season is just about upon us and they would just love to find a place of their own before new mums and babies start filling up the adoption pages
