About Pebbles
Pebbles is an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl who just wants to be near you and show you all of her love. Pebbles’ love for human cuddles and snuggling into blankets is one of a kind. Her most desired spot to sleep would be with you under the covers, but she will also sleep on her own bed in your bedroom.
Pebbles is easily startled by noises and will bark at visitors at the front door. She may take time to warm to strangers, particularly new male humans. Pebbles also experiences extreme separation anxiety and needs an experienced owner (or someone willing to learn with her) who is home most of the time. When left alone she will be destructive. The crate is where Pebbles is practicing her foster carers leaving the house for small increments at a time. She knows the crate is her space and when her humans are home she happily enjoys meals and a snooze in there. Her new family will need to continue her crate training. She has been a bit of an escape artist in a previous foster home, and so secure fences are especially a must for Pebbles.
Pebbles loves to play! She most enjoys games you can share together: fetch, chasey, tug-of-war, hide and seek and nose-work activities. Pebbles is still learning not to jump up in excitement and not mouth during play. She is also fast becoming a treat and puzzle toy master, so she will appreciate a home that can continue these enrichment activities to keep her mind active. Her playful nature can become over-excitement and hyperactivity if she hasn’t had enough physical and mental exercise. When she feels she isn’t receiving enough attention, Pebbles may also turn to destructive chewing.
Pebbles is housetrained and knows lots of cues with hand signals. She is a very clever girl, picking up new cues very quickly, especially with treats. Pebbles also has some stomach and skin sensitivities, so her new family will need to keep an eye on this with diet.
This girl has a lot of strength in her, and this extends to being out on walks. She is learning to walk on a loose lead in a front-clip harness and gets better every week. She is also improving her outside recall on a longline lead, but stays on lead at all times out of the home. This doesn’t stop her having fun and especially loves to splash in water. Pebbles will need a home prepared to continue this training with her.
Pebbles loves other dogs and always wants to say hello! Meeting new dogs is always a big deal for this girl – she can become very excited and nervous all in one. She can be unsure of how to initiate contact, but once she’s introduced herself, all she wants is to play! Pebbles thrives interacting with one or two best friends over meeting lots of new dogs any day!
Pebbles’ ideal family will have no cats and someone home most of the time. She needs someone prepared to continue her training and work in small steps with her unique individual needs. This affectionate girl ultimately just wants to spend her days giving and receiving boundless love. If this sounds like your home please get in touch!
