Kids flown the nest? Looking for a lap warmer? Need someone to love and cherish all day? Live a quiet life? Look no further! Mississippi and Montrose are here for you.
This delightful pair are looking for their adult only retirement home. Somewhere they can snooze the day away with you, get belly rubs, potter around in the garden and keep their activity levels to a minimum. They are quite spritely and do enjoy their bouts of play and walks, but much prefer to just live a quiet indoor life.
Missy is the more independent of the two, she likes to be in the same room as you but isn't as demanding for affection as Monty. Monty will be your new shadow, always by your side and wanting you to sit down so he can snuggle in. If your hand leaves his head he will remind you to put it back.
Monty gets along with other dogs and cats immediately, whereas Missy has to tell everyone who she thinks is boss. Once she gets to know them she is happy to share her space, but really likes to throw her 5kg weight around first. She will bark, growl and pretend like she is a big scary monster. She is a bit hard of hearing so every dog must be barked at until she knows they are not a threat. This takes time, after 24 hours or so she accepts other animals.
Both Mississippi and Montrose have enlarged hearts and Monty has a grade 4-5 heart murmur. He requires ongoing heart medication costing about $26 a month, and for these reasons their exercise requirements are very low. They do not need daily walks, they are quite content to curl up with their humans all day. If they are with you, they are happy, and that is all they want in life.
