About Dixie
If sweet Dixie could be summed up in a quote it would be: If you judge a book by it’s cover, you might miss out on an amazing story.
From what we can gather, Dixie was used, abused and neglected by a backyard breeder – the scars on her face we think were either from her puppies or defensive wounds she got when she was being bred. Eventually she either escaped or was dumped and ended up at a pound. She spent a number of cold, lonely nights at the pound being looked over for adoption until she found herself on the list to be euthanised.
This is where her story starts turning around. She was rescued by Waggin Tails and has been nurtured by a number of foster carers and boarding houses.
Despite everything that has happened to Dixie, she is a very affectionate dog who loves snuggles and cuddles. She would love a forever home with adults and is great with primary school aged and older children. She was never taught to play with toys or fetch a ball, but she loves walks and is great on the lead.
She would be ok living with a cat, but wouldn’t be happy living with other dogs. She isn’t aggressive with other dogs, but when they get too close and are in her space she can snap at them – we think this is because the only socialization she had with other dogs was when they were breeding her.
Dixie is a medium sized, staffy cross who would love someone who will understand her past and is willing to put in the time to train her and love her so that she can learn to trust and feel safe. She needs to be allowed inside your home, be given the affection she so truly deserves and be part of your family.
