About Rocky
Hey guys, my name is Rocky and I am searching for my happily ever after. I came into care late last year after I was abandoned at a vet clinic. The vet held onto me for as long as they could and couldn't bear to see me end up at the pound, so asked the girls at BVAR for help.
When I arrived in care, I simultaneously made everyone fall in love, as well as broke everyone's hearts. I had a few health problems and I was a very fearful and anxious boy. I was scared of loud noises, sticks and brooms and very scared of being left alone. I am very lucky that I have such an amazing foster home. They have stood by me with all my problems and never once given up on me. They spoil me rotten and they definitely love me very much.
My anxiety got pretty bad, so I was shipped off to 'Doggy Bootcamp' at Above and Beyond Dog Training & Rehabilitation to undertake some training. I spent 3 weeks there and learned so many cool tricks. The training really, really helped with my anxiety and stressing and I came back a different dog, not to mention very well trained! I am now great on the lead, and I am place and crate trained.
Now a little about me and what I am looking for in a home. As you can see from my photos, I absolutely adore children. I would love a home with a family with older children, as tiny humans give the best scratches and belly rubs. I love people more than animals and would happily be an only dog, otherwise I wouldn't mind a female companion. I am not great with cats but love guinea pigs! I am great inside and outside the home. My biggest requirement is a firm owner that will be pack leader and continue to help me overcome my fears.
As long as I have distractions and get plenty of exercise, I am now okay being left home alone, however I would prefer a home with someone there more often than not. My new family must keep up my exercise as I do need to lose weight and manage my arthritis in my old age.
I really am the most loving boy you will ever meet. I have that famous staffy snort when I see you and want nothing more than to be by your side. My first 8 years of life weren't the nicest, so all I want is the next 8 to be perfect.
Medical notes
I am currently on pain medication for arthritis so will require ongoing vet appointments to keep this managed.
Adoption details
To enquire about an animal available for adoption, please contact us via Facebook or send an email to bellevieanimalrescue@gmail.com. We will respond within 48 hours and send a questionnaire for you to complete.
Applications are not approved on a first in, best dressed basis, rather we will assess on your suitability. Should we believe that the animal you have applied for may not suit your home or lifestyle, we will work with you until we find your perfect match.
Upon approval of your application, we will organise a mutually convenient time and location to do the meet and greet. If the meet is successful, there will be an adoption contract to complete and sign and the full adoption amount is required unless previously organised with Belle Vie Animal Rescue. Your adoption pack will include a copy of the contract for you, all vet work and a microchip change of ownership form, which will be filled out and submitted by BVAR at the end of the adoption trial.
