About Mika
LOOKING FOR MY PERFECT HOME
This is my perfect home, so if you dont think you can give me this, you dont need to keep reading much more:
* A loving, but a very structured home environment, I need to know exactly right from wrong in your home
* Understand that I am not a social butterfly and am most happy with a resident dog to play with, but not new dogs all the time
* Dog park are over rated as far as I am concerned as dogs bark and come up to me too much and I do not cope that well sometimes
* Well fenced, acreage would be a dream for me (not rural fencing as my foster mum says I like looking at the neighbours stock a little 'too much' and the greyhound starts to show)
* If there was a human home or to be with a lot of the time, I would be in heaven
* I do like learning and ongoing training in something that would be fantastic
So far so good? Yey, please keep reading.
Mika has had a few problems in her past due to human error and not her her own doing. She came into care as a very jumpy, overly excited, reactive and uncertain girl. She has undergone a lot of rehabilitation over her time in care and has shown amazing results. She does have some behaviour that we believe may stay with her due to her previous upbringing.
She is house trainer, sleeps very well inside on her bed on the floor or in her crate. If you need to go out for a few hours and leave her inside, she is also fine to stay in her crate with a nice bone or hoof to keep her busy while you are out. Being in the house to sleep is ideal for her so she can see her humans.
She absolutely loves going in the car and being with her human out and about as long as it is not to dog parks, she is a human focused dog not a doggy socialite.
While Mika has spent time in dog day care learning that other dogs are not evil, she was always introduced calmly and to calm, non reactive dogs in a very controlled manner and off lead. Being on-lead make her nervous as she feels she can not escape if she get fearful.
Mika will sit and wait for her bowl to be placed down to eat.
She knows sit, wait, recall to her name, bed, outside, in the car and a few others. She does enjoy being near to a human. If you are in the garden she will tend to lie near you but not ‘on top’ of you.
If there is no other dog to play with she will throw toys into the air and play happily by herself for short periods of time but is best with company. She can also be full of energy and play with some gusto with dogs of a similar size. She is vocal when she plays and loves a great big go of zoomies.
She is currently in care with 4 other dogs and will be best with another similar size male dog to play with. She currently goes zoomie around the fence line of a acre block chasing a very super energetic koolie. Being part greyhound she can zoom!
Having another dog for company while her humans are away will keep her happy and busy.
Due to her past, she can be fearful around dogs when she is on lead and further training is still required. Her perfect family will need to help Mika with this by ongoing understanding and training if you intend to take her out and meet other dogs a lot.
Under low distraction she will walk by your side and sit calmly when you stop. She has been around children but due to her size must always be under proactive supervision when around children, this is the case with all dogs. She can get excited and jump up.
