About Minion - project for a cat whisperer
Minion came into foster care with me at around 8-10 weeks of age along with six siblings (his real name is 'Mignon' because he was the smallest, but has been 'Minion' since very early on). He was the most scared/shy of all of them right from the start. They were kittens someone had found in their backyard and had been feeding for a bit, but basically the whole litter was little bit wild/shy by the time they came to me.
They have all been adopted out one at a time over the last 2 and half years with just scaredy Minion remaining with us.
My feedback from all the adopters is that they have all done really well in their new homes, even though they start very shy. They seem to respond really well to intensive one on one attention (which as a busy foster household we have not been able to provide) and LOTS of patience and love.
Minion LOVES other cats, and would especially like a confident big brother to show him the ropes and lavish him with grooming, cuddling and rumbles. Minion has never been without other cats around and really loves other cats. He would be so happy to have a friendly older cat brother or sister, BUT there is a possibility that he will be more human friendly without other cats to rely on and will then bond with his human.
While Minion is a super scaredy in almost all contexts ( we cannot touch him at all if we are standing up) he does have one place where he loves to have cuddles - the couch! Then he will sidle up and give me a whingey little squeak, fling himself down dramatically on his side and then it is on. Scritches, belly rubs, purring, air treadles the whole shebang, but it is only in this one place and when he chooses, the rest of the time he is strictly hands off.
He is not suitable for children or first time cat owners - he needs somewhere quiet and someone who will be very very patient. It could take several months for him to settle into a new home.
If you are an experienced cat guardian, or a cat-whisperer who likes the challenge of winning over scaredy-cats, or are looking for a companion for an existing cat Minion is well worth considering. If you are patient enough there is a snuggly cuddler who wants to trust you.
Minion is in care in Watsonia
