About Monty
Good with Other Dogs
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 8 yrs (due size)
Toilet Trained
Size 40 kgs
Ideal Owner
Monty is extremely affectionate and intelligent who needs regular human interaction. He prefers the company of people during the day but can cope alone as long as there is another friendly dog for company who he can play with.
Monty would love acreage or an active outdoor family. He is a great jogging buddy too!! Monty will pull a 'sad face' if he doesn't get large doses of affection and attention. He needs to be involved with family activities. After a good walk or run he will snuggle down and nap quietly.
Monty should be ok for full time workers (9 - 5pm) as long as he has a friendly dog for company.
Monty will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Monty will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees,
- full time workers (9am - 5pm) as long as he has another friendly dog for company.
Monty is well suited to most homes, as long as he has daily exercise, mental stimulation and the company of another friendly dog or people.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Loves company, pats, walks, cuddles, being close to his family, drives and other dogs. He is very large and can forget his size when running and playing. He dislikes water but will go in the ocean with his owner. Monty's owner says he does not like being tied up, fenced in confined areas or being told he is in trouble - he will run and hide.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
When ON a lead ...
Obedient and well behaved on a lead.
When OFF a lead ...
Sometimes good and sometimes bad.
He will stay unless something very exciting is happening. He will then run off but will always return... eventually.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure. Monty will only try and get out when no one is home but is fine with another friendly dog or humans to keep him company. Normal 6 foot high fencing without foot holds is fine.

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
