About Douglas
Douglas or Dougie as he is affectionately called is looking for a very experienced family to improve his sociability with dogs and build his confidence.
Dougie was a stray who had been scrounging for food for some time and wary of people. He was hungry and was finally impounded.
He was scared and nervous. He slowly began to trust regular pound staff.
By the time he came to us he had relaxed further but is only suitable for people with experienced with fear aggression.
He walks well on loose lead, ignoring cars and other dogs unless they are reactive to him. He walks at a good pace and likes a jog! He enjoys pats from volunteers he knows.
He has a scruffy terrier coat and weighs 16kg. Dougie needs a person willing to meet him numerous times to build the trust. He is not a fan of cats and he prefers a quiet environment.
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
Suit Full Time Worker: Not overly needy and can entertain itself. DR recommends play time, dog toys etc.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE:
These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitation, with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Medical notes
He comes desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm free and microchipped. Also included for the love and health of our dogs is a free Health and Wellness Voucher with our DR Vet
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
