About Dannie
Dale, Damon and Dannie’s Story: At the very end of November we got a call from someone who needed to surrender her dog as she was travelling interstate, Daisey had had pups and we were initially told they had died. We agreed to take Miss Daisey. When she arrived at the vet clinic she was full of milk as though she had been feeding up until that morning and we knew this could cause problems and that her pups would not be very old. We tried hard to contact the owner who got our message quite late that afternoon as she was indeed travelling. After we explained that the importance of feeding the puppies and the likely hood that Daisey could get very ill due to milk fever we were able to convince her to let us have two of the original 6-8 puppies Daisey may have had. A volunteer made a night dash to pick up the puppies from a family member and bring them to Happy Paws haven where they were very happy to be reunited with their mother. Since then we have had another of her pups surrendered. They have grown into typical, naughty, playful, mischievous puppies and are scheduled to be de-sexed on Friday and to have their final vaccinations.
Adoption details
HappyPaws Haven is fussy about who adopts these animals and where they are housed and cared for. The adoption criteria is documented as a questionnaire and strictly adhered to. We do not adopt animals to people who rent unless they are long term rental at the same address and have landlords written permission.
We ask if they have thought about the attributes they want in a dog, lifestyle, childrens ages, prepared to train, etc. We also talk about responsible pet ownership, \ fully fenced yards, hours unattended etc. and finally a vet reference.
