About Kuro
Not available for interstate adoption apart from ACT
Must go to a home with at least one younger, friendly, playful
and well-adjusted dog
PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Kuro is a beautiful Kelpie mix with soft velvety short fur. We expect he will grow to be around 25kgs as he has lovely long gangly legs. Kuro is developing into an exceptional dog.
We believe he would love agility training when he is older as he is very clever and learns quickly.
Beautiful in appearance and nature, Kuro is a lovely, cuddly pup. He is an active passive boy who loves people , other dogs and a good cuddle.
He is currently living in a foster home with kids and other dogs (2 large breeds and 1 older small breed). He has quickly adjusted to his new foster home and plays with his active foster dog sibling, cuddles his other cuddly foster dog sibling and has quickly learned to avoid the elderly dog in his foster house. In other words, he quickly adapts to other dogs.
At the moment he appears afraid of cats and wild birds.
As he has lived his whole life with other dogs, he must be rehomed with another playful dog. He will also need a garden to explore and spend time in . He also loves to be carried and hasn't worked out yet that he will eventually be too big for that.
Kuro is used to his foster family coming and going however he isn't used to being left alone for longer than a few hours so would suit a family who is home a lot and one that will include him as part of the family.
Kuro is also great with kids and is very gentle with them making him the ultimate family dog.
Kuro must also have access inside and outside and definitely must sleep inside at night. Kuro is used to sleeping in a dog bed besides his foster carer's bed and would be happiest if this was to continue in his new home. Kuro settles well at night when his family goes to sleep and doesn't have accidents at night.
Kuro has had some basic training and has excellent recall and knows other commands such as sit, down, stay, do wee wee. In his foster home he is fully toilet trained as well, his new home will obviously be a new environment so his new family will need to set him up to succeed in the new environment.
Being a kelpie mix he will be quite active so will need an active home where his new family can get him out and about on daily walks to parks, beaches, lakes etc
Kuro will need a family who is dedicated to his ongoing training using only force-free reward-based methods, exercise other stimulating activities to keep him happy.
If you would like to meet this special guy please send some information on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your dog and any other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Kuro would be alone, where he will have access in the home, where Kuro would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
Medical notes
The adoption fee includes vet checks, microchip, vaccinations and desexing. Kuro is too young to be desexed at this time and his new owner must be able to return him to our vet in Beverly Hills Sydney for his desexing.
Adoption details
SAS will arrange a "meet and greet" with our rescue pet and we offer a two-week trial period if we feel that the rescue pet and the prospective family are well matched.
Most interviews will be held in the Croydon area of Sydney
