Hundreds of thousands of Australians bring a new canine into their families every year; however, a lack of awareness results in too few people choosing to adopt a rescue dog. PetRescue is working hard to promote the 'adoption option', asking families to open their hearts and homes to needy pets. We believe pet lovers are the answer to saving the life of each and every healthy companion animal in this country.
The rescue dogs starring in this book are young, old, big, small, pedigree and mixed breeds. They are alive now thanks to the wonderful volunteer-run rescue groups, progressive pounds and shelters, and the big-hearted families who saved them.
We hope these stories will inspire you to not only adopt your next pet, but to support rescue groups across the nation in their vital work.
