Maremmas for Adoption

Forever Friends frequently has beautiful Maremma dogs for adoption of various ages.

Originally bred in Italy for guarding livestock, the Maremma is an intelligent, strong-willed and loyal companion, only suitable for rural or semi-rural living, on acreage.

The Maremma is courageous in protection of its flock and home but needs training and guidance.

Their dense coat takes a lot of upkeep and the dog needs a thorough brushing and combing nearly every day.

This breed is best suited to farm life with lots of open space. They are not an overly active breed, preferring to quietly watch over their flock (which might just be their humans!) They are not suited to suburban living as they can become bored quickly and will bark a great deal at all the local stimulus, as they are bred to do.

No suburban applications will be considered. Applicants with livestock guardian experience preferred.
