Maui

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH BE THE CHANGE ANIMAL SHELTER INC - Maui has come back into our care as his owner is moving and cannot take him with her. Unfortunately for Maui this has happened to him twice now (the first time is the reason he was initially surrendered). Maui is only 2 years old and is a German Shepherd x. He is a very strong dog so will require a physically capable handler. He has always lived with children and is fantastic with them. Due to a tumultuous start Maui does exhibit some separation anxiety. He likes to be with you and be a part of everything that’s going on, he likes to know what is going on around him. When Maui is left alone he will initially whine but does settle eventually. It would not be fair to Maui to adopt him into a home where he is left for 6-8 hours a day. We are therefore looking for a home where people are working from home or working part time. Maui is toilet trained and sleeps on his bed inside and is very respectful of the home environment. He also travels brilliantly in the car which is great because he loves exploring and being outdoors. Maui is not suitable to live with cats, birds or pocket pets. He is also best at this stage as an only dog. Maui will be undertaking dog obedience classes in our care so we will certainly see how he progresses and work on socialisation with dogs in the future.
