About Cougar
Hi, my name is Cougar. I may be 6 ½ years old but I am a true Siberian Husky, coz, I’m larger than life and FULL of energy.
Being a Siberian Husky, and like every other Siberian Husky (or 99.99%) of us, I must always be on a lead when out and about. You see, I do love to run! One of my hobbies (since 14 months old), was racing in harness (or dry-land sledding) and I’ve even run in two and six dog teams. Now, well … I am still fascinated by the outside world. This also means that if you take me off lead, I’m happy to beat you at a game of chase (though, not a great idea as I am really not too good at road rules).
Now a bit of a downside to me! I’m not always great with other adult dogs that I haven’t grown up with. I have trouble understanding adult aged dogs. It’s not a dominance thing, it’s just all strange to me and it can cause social conflict between me and other dogs. I have had training, which was supposed to help me through this, but I am way too proudly stubborn and refuse to yield to that human doggy-training stuff.
I am crate trained (for sleeping in at night, snacks etc). The daytime, I’ve been outside, and doing my zoomies and more. If you can handle me sleeping inside (crate preferred, especially at the beginning), AND lots and LOTS of dog fur everywhere coz I sleep inside at night – and I’m likely to love coming inside during the day to share more fur with you and your home HA HA HA.
I am great with kids of all ages, as long as any kid time is well supervised, especially from the beginning. I love human attention and interaction, and I’ll sing you a special song while you are making my dinner.
My ideal new home would be to start life as an only dog. Maybe in time I’d be happy to have a doggy friend. If one day you would like another dog, I’m all for that! As long as it’s a puppy, as they absolutely fascinate me, and I can watch over them as they grow.
Like most of me breed, I don’t deal well with cats or pocket pets (they are ummm snacks… right? hehehe)
Must haves:
-------------
• NO cats, no pocket pets, no backyard bird cages such as chickens (Siberians can have a high prey drive)
• Secure, undiggable 6ft+ high fencing
• Siberian Huskies will definitely share their fur – with everything e.g., floors, clothes, even your cup of tea
• Siberian Huskies are not loyal, not guard dogs and can never be off leash when out-and-about (they don’t have recall)
• An insane addiction for the breed or willing to listen and learn

Adoption details
We do our best to match these lovable, intelligent, cheeky, obstinate, escape artists with their perfect forever home. To date, we've rehomed over 60 Siberians, and they are all happy!
Currently, we love speaking with potential Foster Carers and Adopting families, please provide us with your number and your suburb so we can match you with our nearest Rescue Coordinator.
When needed, we do yard checks to help minimise any escape routes - especially for Siberian Huskies also known as Houdini's. We also arrange meet'n greets and more.
Everyone fosters before formally adopting. This means each dog gets the best chance to settle in - as do the humans :).
Sometimes we can receive more than 40 applications for the one Siberian Husky. Which is fantastic for the Siberian. However, not so perfect for the families - as many miss out. We consider all applications before any Siberian Husky goes on trial. Please be patient with us. If you miss out, we're happy to keep your application for the next suitable Siberian that enters our Rescue Program.
