About Lache - Dingo Staffy Mix
Hi my name is Lache and I'm a big gentle teddy bear when it comes to people. I love to cuddle, and despite my size (approximately 20kg) I'll climb in your lap for a snuggle if you'll let me. I have the sweet gentle nature of a staffy and the intelligence of a dingo. I'm the best of both worlds and the shelter volunteers say I'm an extremely good boy and my new family will be very lucky!
I'm house trained and crate trained, I'm very happy to sleep in a crate over night otherwise I could sleep on a dog bed or maybe even curl up at the end of your bed? I will hold on all night to wee, and go when you take me out in the morning. I don't even snore! I do sometimes bark if left alone outside at night, so will need to sleep indoors or be crated over night. Otherwise I don't generally bark during the day unless I see another dog and they bark at me first, then sometimes I want to join in.
I know how to sit (if you have a treat for me) and I can shake your hand to. I walk really well on leash, thought I will pull a little when I get excited. I respond well to training and with time and treats I could learn anything! I know my name, but the rescue do not recommend letting me off the lead outside a fenced area in case I get scared and run away since sometimes I'm a bit nervous of loud sounds like trucks or barking dogs.
I'm also great in the car, and content to ride in a crate or on the back seat.
I'm a little shy of some people at first but warm up in less than an hour especially if you have a treat for me, or take me for a walk (I love walks almost as much as I love pats and belly rubs).
I would prefer a home as an only dog, I don't go out of my way to cause trouble with other dogs, and mostly on walks I will just ignore them, but I can be a bit frightened of dogs, especially big dogs and then growl or snap at them. I never snap at people. The rescue thinks this is because I have had a bad experience with other dogs in my past, but since I came from a pound they can't be certain.
Because I can be nervous with other dogs, I am muzzle trained (just like many greyhounds) and will come to my new home with a special muzzle. I don't need to wear it at home or on walks unless it's a busy area with off lead dogs, and then it's safer if I do in case another dog runs up and scares me.
I am good with kids, but due to my size (20kg) kids over 5 would be best in case I knock them over in my enthusiasm. I can't live with cats, rabbits, birds or other small animals.
My ideal home will have at least 1.8m secure fencing and sleepers or pavers or similar at the base of the fence to stop digging (the rescue centre can help with this if you need advice on making sure your fence is secure).
I would really superly love a family of my own so I don't have to live at the shelter and can sleep in a house every night. Are you my fur-ever home?

3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
