About Athena
At 12 years old, Athena was found by a member of the public calling out for attention. After they got closer to her, they saw her collar wasn't around her neck but actually deeply embedded under her front legs and had been for weeks. We were able to get the collar off and she was taken to a local vet clinic to be scanned for a microchip and have her wounds assessed. She started her impound time under duty of care at the vets where attempts were made to contact her legal owner to no avail. Once her impound time was completed she came into care to start the journey to find her happily ever after.
After more investigating, we discovered that Athena was found roaming, picked up by a family who put the collar on her and simply decided she was now their cat. These "owners" claimed Athena as their cat when she was first found with the collar injury but quickly retracted their ownership of her when they discovered she needed veterinary attention. Weeks prior to her collar injury, she had been attacked by a dog and rather than being treated by a vet, her "owners" simply locked her inside until the wound healed on it's own before being tossed outside again.
Despite what's happen to her, she is the most sweet cat who adores her humans. She loves cuddles and just wants to be by your side as often as she can. Due to the collar injury (which has completely healed now), she has certain limitations with being picked up and having the area around her back/shoulders touched.
She absolutely loves indoor life, having a warm and comfy bed to sleep on and being fed every single day and not having to hunt for food. Athena doesn't want much at all, simply a warm bed to sleep on and humans to dote on her. She is incredibly affectionate and snuggly and loves her humans more than anything.
Due to her past, Athena doesn't like other cats or dogs so is needing a home where she can be queen of the castle. Please note, this isn't a stipulation we are putting in place just because we feel like it, she is currently being fostered in a home that has other cats and dogs and she does not like them at all. She very much likes a calm household so isn't suited to live with young children.
We understand these limitations do very much restrict the number of suitable homes for her but we know her perfect family is out there, just waiting to find her.
Medical notes
Athena has a black mark on her nose which the vets have said is pre-cancerous/cancerous. This mark is not currently affecting her but will need to be carefully monitored by her forever home.
