About Ace
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH BE THE CHANGE ANIMAL SHELTER INC-
Introducing “Ace” a 7 year old de-sexed male Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is confident and calm around people, he is a happy boy who would accept all cuddles all day if you let him. Ace shows some signs of separation anxiety and needing constant re-assurance and attention (Ace has been separated from his fur sibling, through no fault of his own and currently from his family, through no fault of his own, and is staying with extended family). Ace is distracted around other dogs and finds it hard to settle initially, this is in an excitable manner not an aggressive one. He is fine if he is introduced in a confident calm manner I think he was picking up on his previous owners anxiety’s in regards to meeting dogs prior.
Ace walks well however can pull when around another dog. Ace has lived peacefully with a cat they are best friends. He is absolutely fabulous with children. Ace has had a behaviour assessment through Advanced Behavioural training as the older dog he was living with previously was causing some issues between the normally peaceful pair. They offer a separation anxiety class and we are committed to help Ace assimilate into a new home with minimal stress so are offering ongoing sessions for Ace until he is comfortable. Ace would be best as an only dog or with a submissive older female dog. As long as he has people around him regularly he should do just fine. Ace just needs reassurance and a degree of attention as he wants to know that everything is ok and that he is loved and safe.
Ace really needs to be a part of the family not in an environment whereby no-one is home Mon to Fri for 7 or 8 hours per day. Secure fencing and an open door policy is a must for this boy.
