About Heba- Dingo
Hi my name is Heba, I came to the rescue after some kind people found me severely malnourished and alone in a cane field with my siblings. The humans at the sanctuary think my parents might have been killed by hunters or poison leaving me on my own at just 6 weeks old.
I just love attention and cuddles from humans I know (but I can be a bit shy of strangers at first), and I’m always getting kisses and snuggles from the live-in-volunteers at the sanctuary. My favourite is when they take me to their rooms and I snuggle up and fall asleep. I love cozy beds and belly rubs. Could I come home and cuddle with you?
Heba has been hand-raised from a young age at our sanctuary with lots of human contact and socializing, she loves being around humans and is one of our more confident rescue puppies, though like all dingoes she is shy at first with strangers or in noisy, busy environments. She needs to be introduced to new people gradually, but is very sweet and curious in nature.
Since Heba can't be returned to the wild, she is on the hunt for a family who can patiently continue puppy training with her, and introduce her to life in suburbia.
Heba loves to play with the other pups and adult dingoes. She will be 18-20kg when fully grown and would love a home with a doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger to play with and help build her confidence (no dogs under 10kg). Her new home must have another dog.
Heba would be fine in a home with kids 5+ who are respectful and good with animals, with lots of supervision.
Heba has very good manners and is picking up toilet training very quickly. At the moment she is using puppy pads, she sleeps through the night and is happy sleeping indoors or outdoors in a kennel/undercover area.
She is also learning to walk on a lead and can’t wait for her family to carry on her training with her. Dingoes respond well to positive reinforcement training and Heba is very intelligent, food motivated and eager to learn. Being a dingo however she is not suitable to be let off leash except in a securely fenced area and she is unlikely to ever learn reliable recall (come when called) off the leash.
Heba cannot live with cats, birds or other small animals. Her new home needs a secure backyard and she cannot live in an apartment.
Like all dingoes, Heba is a good climber and digger! This means she will need secure fencing and will require one of the following: 2.2m color bond fencing OR a dog enclosure OR a secure 1.8-meter fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/). For more information on fencing check out our website www.sydneydingorescue.com.au
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
