About Piper
Piper is an active very sweet girl. She is very treat motivated and sits and shakes. She is playful with active young dogs of similar size. She walks nicely on loose lead, pulling occasionally. She ignores cars, lunges and barks at passing dogs playfully. She walks at a good pace and likes to jog. Enjoys pats, cuddles and belly rubs and sits on command. Piper is nervous of tradie looking males and people of Asian appearance.
Walkers say: “Sweetest girl! Very gentle picking up food”, “Very good natured and well behaved. Very strong but will stop pulling when asked. Obviously has some training – knows sit. Loves treats”. "Reactive but responds well to treats - able to distract easily and prevent reactivity escalating. Loves to sniff and smell everything. Very affectionate. Likes to sit quietly and enjoy cuddles." "She was originally quite shy when I took her off site, but her confidence has been building and she’s really loving her adventures, she loves bushwalking and the beach. She doesn’t react to dogs or cars and is great walking past most people, which is great improvement." "Off-site she doesn’t pull on the lead at all and is a very sweet girl to walk, I just make sure it's nowhere too busy as that can overwhelm her. Onsite she can pull when walking up and down the road but doesn’t react to dogs or cars, but she can get a little stressed if waiting in the carpark and it's too busy. Once she gets to know you Piper is a very affectionate girl, she loves sitting and resting on our walks with her bum as close to you as it can be – often on your lap not realising how big she is, she will sit quietly and loves nothing more than being close to you."
She has a short coat and weighs 22kg.
Suit Part Time Worker: Copes alone for short periods, with training possibly longer but presently does need someone home part of the time
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitating traumatised dogs with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
