About Thunder
You are probably reading this because you’ve seen my awesome photos and you’re thinking you’d love to foster (and maybe adopt me), and make me a part of your family, forever, right? Okay, so I can dream. Hehehe
My name is Thunder, and I’m a human-attention-hungry-sap of a Siberian Husky. I love hugs, I love cuddles, but I also love my ‘doggy’ time. You know doggy time, right? Doggy time, for folks that don’t know, is that time when I’m sleeping, that time when I am sunbaking, or that time just laying on the floor next to you, but I know you are there. But this doesn’t happen straight away.
It could take me a week, or three, just to settle into a routine, and then it will take a bit longer for me to show you all the awesome things about me. What I do know, Is that I love, love, really love, FOOD (especially treats). I may be a little slow to start eating my dinner because of nerves, but I promise you, I’m not going to let myself starve.
I’m not that type of Siberian Husky that you can take in, and expect to behave! hahaha You see, I need a lot of learning especially with basic commands like, ummm, sit. I was soooo good at ignoring my foster carer – that she even thought I might be a bit deaf. Humans! I’m not deaf, its just that I don’t know the command. Are you the right person or people to help me learn?
Don’t let my size fool you please, coz even though I do have some slim-bits, I promise you I can (and most likely will), pull like a bulldozer. Happy Huskies will tell you this about me too, but I have to have it said here – DO NOT have cats. I mean, it’s not like I don’t like them, I just like to chase them – and they are no match for my jaws. This also goes for stray cats, some birds, other pocket pets like ducks, geese, chickens, etc… I’m not a bad dog – I just don’t know my own strength.
Now, on top of all that – I do need a “Siberian Husky proof” back yard to play in. I am a little bit of a Houdini (well, a lot), and I will look at every possible escape route – even the ones you haven’t yet thought of! Hehehehe
I have tons of energy – when I’m not sleeping. I’m cheeky, outgoing, loving, playful, and I have lots of energy. I love walks and car rides. I can even handle a bath here or there. I’ll probably need one occasionally, as mud-playtime can leave me a little … ummmm … muddy! I have been around children (well older children) and have always loved all the attention! I don’t think I have medical issues … ummm … did I mention I can pull like a bulldozer, well, it’s fun for me, and I am a Siberian Husky! Hehehe
There are two mild concerns, one is, I’m not really that socialised with other dogs, and, because I love ALL the attention, then a single dog family (which is me) would be the best option. Also, my foster carer has told me to tell you, that I may have some separation anxieties. Other than all that, I’m cute, I’m fluffy, I’ll share my fur, and I am perfect!
Must haves:
-------------
• NO cats, no pocket pets, no backyard bird cages such as chickens (Siberians can have a high prey drive)
• Secure, undiggable 6ft+ high fencing
• Siberian Huskies will definitely share their fur – with everything e.g., floors, clothes, even your cup of tea
• Siberian Huskies are not loyal, not guard dogs and can never be off leash when out-and-about (they don’t have recall)
• An insane addiction for the breed or willing to listen and learn is definitely must

Adoption details
Happy Huskies Victoria Inc. (HHV) is a new Community Foster Care Network (CFCN). We are a friendly, dedicated, breed-passionate team of volunteers assisting with rescued, surrendered and/or abandoned Siberian Huskies. Collectively, we bring you more than 20 years experience in Rescue and Rehoming Siberian Huskies.
We do our best to match any of our Siberian Huskies available with their perfect forever home.
To do this we will speak with potential adoptees, we ask that an Expression of Interest Adoption form be completed, then, if needed, we may do a yard check to minimise any escape routes for the Siberian Husky. We then ask potential adoptees to meet the Siberian. If all goes well - the starts a trial period before formalling adopting. Basically this means each dog gets the best chance to settle in - same as the humans :).
Sometimes we can receive more than 40 applications for the one Siberian Husky. Which is fantastic for the Siberian. However, not so perfect for the families - as they miss out. We consider all applications before any Siberian Husky goes on trial. Please be patient with us. If you miss out, we're happy to keep your application for the next suitable Siberian that enters our Rescue Program.
