About Mucker
🌸🌸 MUCKER 🌸🌸
Introducing the sweet and loving Mucker 💕 who is ready to find her furever home!
Mucker loves attention and is a really sweetie. Her favourite thing to do is smooch and cuddle and she will show how much she loves you with plenty of licks 🥰
She is a very quick learner and knows how to sit and wait for food and treats 😊 Mucker came in thin and a bit malnourished, she has since gained weight and strength since coming into foster care 😍 She has responded well to on leash training with a Halti and now she is great on the lead with or without it (still tends to walk in front with regular check ins and doesn’t like wearing the Halti when running) 💚 her foster carer has been using positive reinforcement and treats to help her overcome some hyper focus whilst out on walks and she is doing a lot better, now she is just very nosey and likes people watching 💜
Mucker looooves a car ride 🚗 and exploring new places, we believe she never got to do much in her life before us, so new environments are very exciting! She will need slow exposure to these exciting places to help her remain calm and not become too stressed or over excited 😆
This clever girl knows “come, stop, leave it, sit, paw (to shake) up, no and wait for Boo” (her old and slow foster brother) Though unfortunately the old boy, Boo, has taught her to bark at people and dogs who pass by the boundary fence 🙈 this has reduced with Mucker sensing if it’s worth joining in or not!
Mucker absolutely looooves to run, she is great running on lead with her human or around an empty dog park. She will chase a ball in the back yard, though still hasn’t figured out picking the ball up and bringing it back preferring to jump for bouncing balls, tug games and flipping teddys 🤣 During play Mucker can be a little mouthy, she has been working on this and responds to correction and the introduction of a soft toy instead of our hands 😊
Mucker can be reactive but only when stressed or in an over excited state, e.g when playing with other dogs or passing barking/aggressive dogs on lead, so her forever humans will need to learn to look out for her signs and help her stay calm by removing her from the situation and redirecting her attention.
She has been learning to wait her turn when going through doors, so she isn't barging through and is responding well when told to wait.
She eats really well (loves food) using slow feeder bowls and muffin trays to slow her down a bit 😁
She loves her raw food from Big Dog Pet Foods, Lyka Pet Food, Prime 100 and veggies. Unfortunately she does not take well to dry food, it upsets her digestive system. Food aggression is no longer an issue but we have continued with separate eating areas 💕 She also is kept away from eating areas when the human family are eating too, to teach her manners around family meal times.
This gorgeous girl is very smart and figures out enrichment activities very quickly, she loves them! Even though she can be high energy she does have long periods of chill time too, and loves to sunbake or cuddle with her humans 🥰 In foster care she has been an inside/outside dog, quickly learning not to go on the couch and how to use the doggy door to get outside for toileting, play and sun baking 🌞
Mucker loves people and children (any attention she will take it), she will do best with "big dog savvy" kids! She has shown to be selective with dog some interactions, she doesn’t appreciate dogs who are excited and in her face when she’s been on the leash. Mucker will do best as the only dog or with a calm, lazy friend 💖
She will make a great companion to someone who loves big dogs and their quirks 😍
