About Milly - Adoption Pending
Milly is a very active sweet natured young dog who loves to play and is learning to be confident in her daily life, obedience and manners training. She would ideally love a gentle, similar sized, well mannered dog to live and play with. Milly is looking for a quieter home with NO children under the age of 12 years as they overwhelm her.
Milly has gone through very extensive rehabilitation training and is looking for a local home (Mornington Peninsula area) so that ongoing training with her new family can continue.
The training is for the humans as well as the dog and needs to continue for her match to be completely successful, hence her adoption package includes a number of private training lessons.
Milly loves playing with our well mannered dogs ,so we'd love it if you have a happy well mannered small dog too. Please request additional paperwork to fill out and understand that you will need to be prepared to do some basic training with YOUR dog (using the same methods as Milly is used to) so both dogs (and humans) are all on the same page. This is to ensure Milly does not revert back to old habits.
Milly MUST sleep in a crate or pet pen at night and is NOT allowed on beds or couches. This to maintain good behaviour and ensure she does not return to old patterns of unacceptable behaviour (resource guarding)- if this is NOT you , please do not apply for her.
As mentioned Milly's adoption price comes with a professional training package (plus training equipment and full lifetime support) to help her new owners understand how to communicate with her effectively and maintain her training so far. Catch up face to face training lessons (when needed) are at the owners expense and must be done with one of our trainers.
Atm Milly is mastering a perfect recall (under distraction), walking nicely on lead, holding boundaries at doorways (waiting for invite), drop & bed commands, learning to continually listen to voice tone & make good choices. She loves to be near you and relax and will often enjoy a game of fetch with a soft toy.
Her new humans will need to be confident, consistent handlers who have a gentle but firm approach to maintain her confidence in them.
Milly needs a daily brush and comb along with regular professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her coat healthy and matt free. We can put you in touch with gentle but confident local groomers or we can arrange to groom her for you.
Milly is fed a raw diet to keep her healthy and fit (inside and out) so new owners would need to continue that. NO kibble please. She is a good eater and enjoys her variety of meats with steamed veg plus fruit and raw meaty bones as snacks. Her diet is also supported with the appropriate vitamins and minerals - (we will support you with easy recipes and guidance).
No apartment dwellers please as Milly is used to access and playtime in a back yard. We will give preference to applicants who reside on the Mornington Peninsula and will not accept full time workers - someone MUST be home most of the time. Please DO NOT apply if you do not meet all of the adoption criteria.
**Please also note that it may take us a little while to get back to your emails, because of the nature of our workload. Thank you for your patience.

3. Please ENSURE you have read and re-read ALL of the criteria for this adoption BEFORE you email a request for a questionaire. This will save everyone a bunch of time as there are things we are not willing to negotiate on.
4. You will be contacted for further information and given a questionaire to complete.
5. If you already own a dog, please let us know so we can send you out an additional questionaire.
