About Phoenix
Hi there... I've caught your eye, haven't I... aren't I just stunning?!? My name is Phoenix, but you can call me Nixy! I answer to that name really well. I am a shy, young lady who came into foster care about four months ago. I was so scared in the shelter that I hurt my own claws trying to break out! Since being in foster care I am feeling so much better and I'm loving life again. I am only 13 months old and ready for a new adventure!
I've been working so hard on learning to be a house cat whilst in foster care. You see, it's really hard work for me as I was used to life on the streets as a kitten. My foster mum and her family have spent lots of time working with me every day and I've made huge progress. They are so proud of me as I was a very scared girl when I first came to live with them.
Here are some of the things I'm really good at and I love to do:
· Playing chase and catch with a cat toy with a bell on it. I play all by myself with it and I especially love drowning it in my water bowl every now and then! I also love attacking and rolling around with catnip toys or chasing light-up wands if they have a bell on them!
· At the moment I like personal space around me when I'm on my own, it reminds me of my days living out and in the open. But I am living with three house cats and two small dogs in my foster home, so I'm used to socialising with everyone! I tend to walk around the doggies and try not to pay them much attention, but I love other cats and I get all snuggly and playful with them! With a nice slow introduction, I might be able to live with other animals, especially feline playmates.
· I'm a chatty girl when you call out my name! I ask nicely for my dinner by rubbing against the things in my room and chirping when I'm asked if I'd like something to eat. It's super cute!
· I am very treat motivated, which is great for training. If you use creamy treats or feed me a crunchy kitty treat, you can get me to come to you and I will let you pat me a few times. Sometimes I will run off to get away from you, but I will always come back for my food and then you can pat me again. I'm also finger click trained! This means that even though I may be scared and I might not fully trust you, you can click your fingers repeatedly and I will start to come to you for pats!
What I would REALLY love for my future would be to live as inside kitty to protect me from the sun and anyone who might like to try and keep me for themselves! With my stunning grey features, I look very expensive, like one of those fancy cats on TV ads! I'm used to indoor life now and I love to feel safe.
I also need a patient and understanding owner who would give me lots of time, space, toys and treats to continue bringing me out of my shell and keep teaching me to enjoy affection.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
