About Gene
Hi, I am Gene, a sweet but shy 4 year old girl, and am im search for my forever home. I came to Cat Haven more than two years ago after being found on the streets and have spent and extended time in foster care. My new foster mum thinks I am finally ready to find my forever home.
I am still a shy girl but I made a lot of progress in my new foster home. I love pats, especially chin and bum scratches. Not sure why it took me so long to realise how nice pats are?! I am also quite playful but prefer to play by myself. However, from time to time, I will chase feathers when my foster mum encourages me.
I live with multiple feline friends and a dog in my current home. I like my big cat brother a lot but not a big fan of my dog brother (he moved in a couple of weeks ago so I might need a little bit more time to get used to him). It is essential that I go into a home with a confident cat to help me feel secure.
I am not very food motivated and prefer biscuits over wet food (unless it has yummy sauce on it which I will lick off). However, I like creamy treats, especially the ones with fish or seafood flavour. I am a very clean girl and won't make much of a mess.
I can get quite excited when I see my foster mum or feline brother and will give little meows and jump out of my bed when I see them.
While I made great progress in my foster home, please keep in mind, I am still a timid girl and require a home with people who are willing to work on my behaviour and are experienced with shy cats. In the past, I got defensive when I felt cornered (it hasn't happened in my current home though) and therefore need a home without children, and owners who can read my body language.
My foster mum says I am a very sweet girl with the softest fur she has ever touched and I am quite a cuddly cat once I feel comfortable. She hopes there will be someone out there who can provide me with a loving, patient and permanent home. #catcompatible
Medical Notes
Gene has been diagnosed with abnormal changes in her right eye which were checked by a specialist (report attached). She seems to have sustained a penetrating injury in the past which involved the right lens. The initial inflammation (uveitis) resulted in darker discoloration of the right iris, and the trauma to the lens caused an early cataract to form. There is also a remnant corneal opacity (scar) on the surface of the eye.
Gene has mild dental tartar and associated gum changes. This is very common in mature cats.
I am located with my foster family in Nollamara.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
