About Miller
Do you want a very active cat who loves being around people and other animals but isn't smoochy? Then Miller is your boy! Miller is a 3 year old slim Tuxedo cat who came into Cat Haven as a stray but he had obviously been a pet as he had no fear of humans or other cats.
His foster mum has been working on his socialization skills and Miller now comes and rubs/rolls over as he wants a pat not food. He likes human company and always comes and greets his foster mum when she comes home and he likes to hang out near her but not on her lap. He also likes napping on her bed but, to his disappointment, he is not allowed in the bedroom at bedtime as the residents sleep there and excluding him means that his foster mum gets some sleep! Miller is such an active cat that he would want to play with the residents.
Miller now likes has back being patted, the top of his head being rubbed, also his cheeks and under his chin. More recently he has allowed his back legs and belly to be rubbed but usually not his front legs and he still snaps (rarely connects) or swipes when his front feet are touched or if he has had enough pats. On some occasions he will purr loudly when he is being patted but certainly not all the time. He also likes being kissed on the head and will never swipe or snap when this is happening.
Miller is a very active boy and runs around a lot and plays stalking games with the residents, 2 of whom aren't impressed. He enjoys chasing a dangling toy being flicked by his foster mum but otherwise doesn't seem interested in toys that don't move. Whenever there are visitors, Miller appears and comes up for a pat.
Miller is a cat who should adapt easily to most homes though he would be best suited to a household without young kids, given that he can snap or swipe. Miller could share a home with other cats but a fur playmate who likes chasing games might be best as he may annoy or scare a more sedentary cat. Miller could easily be a sole cat too as he likes human company. Miller hasn't been tried with dogs but is confident enough to probably adapt with a gradual introduction.
Miller's foster mum describes him as a "work in progress" who has come a long way in his time in foster and hopes his social skills keep improving to the point where he stops snapping/swiping and instead regularly purrs. The socialization training will continue until he is adopted.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
