About Potato Gem
Hi, I'm Potato Gem! I'm a shy 3 year old girl that was found as a stray. It has taken me a few weeks to get comfortable in my foster home, but every day I am feeling a little braver and more relaxed. I now explore the house, chirruping as I go, instead of hiding out on the highest cupboard like I did when I first arrived here. In fact, I don't go up on the high cupboard at all any more!
I like to spend my days sleeping on the dining chairs, where I can survey the majority living areas and keep an eye on the humans and resident cat. Sometimes I like to nap on or under my foster mum's bed. I like to be petted when I'm on the bed, and will thank my foster mum for the pats by grooming her entire hand. At night, I like to hop onto the bed with my foster mum and sleep by her legs all night.
I love food! The way to my heart is with Creamy Treats and wet food. My foster mum calls me "Gem-Gem", and when I hear my name called I hurry over to her, chirruping along the way, just in case there's something yummy awaiting me.
I love chasing the laser pointer and am showing more interest in toys now that I'm more relaxed. When I get excited I also like to wrestle with the scratching posts at the base of the cat tree.
Things I don't like include people moving quickly towards me, and getting picked up. I would do better in a mature and quiet household. I am currently living with two smaller humans and am getting quite used to their noise but they move a bit too quickly for my liking.
I am currently also living with a female resident cat. We are gradually becoming more tolerant of each other so I may get along with a confident cat after a slow and careful introduction. I would also be quite content being the only feline in the house.
Due to my delicate, pale features, I will need to be an indoor only cat.
I have come a long way in foster care and I can't wait to find a patient and loving forever home that can help me really come out of my shell.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
