About Hera - Dingo
Hi my name is Hera and I'm looking for a new best human friend. I absolutely love being around people, so being in a home setting where I will get lots of love and attention would be my dream.
I'm very confident and outgoing for a dingo and I love all the volunteers at the sanctuary. I haven't been around very young children and I prefer adults and kids over the age of 12, but I’m a very sweet girl and will be great as a friend for older kids or teens.
I’m a good girl and love treats, I know how to sit and lay down. I'm very food motivated and super intelligent.
I'm very energetic and love going for walks. I walk really well on the lead having a good sniff at all the delicious smells.
I'm great in the car and can ride in a crate or on leash on the back seat.
I don’t really get on well with other dogs or dingoes and I prefer the company of humans. I would prefer to be a solo dingo, in an only pet home.
FENCING-
Like all dingoes Hera is a fantastic climber and digger, and will require one of the following: 2.2m colourbond fencing OR a dog enclosure OR a secure 1.8 meter fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/),
Sydney Dingo Rescue are able to provide advice on dingo proofing for your existing yard and most yards can be modified cheaply and easily.
Please note SFDR do not rehome dingoes to homes without a dog enclosure or modified dog fence like the one described above.
PERMITS- no permit is required to own a dingo or dingo hybrid in NSW at the present time.
Animal rescue is considered essential. SFDR can still come to you for meet and greets, yard checks and animal adoptions. We have volunteers in Canberra and New South Wales and can come to you even if you we are not in your local government area. Distance is not an issue when we are looking for the perfect homes for our dingoes. Please note we have COVID safety measures in place.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
