About Mamm
PURRSONALITY TRAITS
Hello I'm Mamm (aka Mammie, Mammington). I'm just one year old and I'm gloriously soft with the most fabulously fluffy tail. I also have the cutest beauty spot markings on my face.
I have come a long way in Fostercare. My first 3 weeks I was absolutely terrified, I hid in one spot and lunged/hissed at humans whenever they came near me. I took my time coming out of my shell but it was so worth the wait.
I'm now so smoochy and love to give little head buts into my human's hand, and curl up on or next to them, purring away. I'm more comfortable with my female human than the male, or maybe I just pick one person to bond more with I'm not sure. I will need someone with lots of patience to let me settle in a new home. I will still be shy initially on moving in but probably not as much as coming from the shelter which had been a stressful time after being picked up as a stray. I've now been in foster 4 months and I'm at my peak of being comfortable with my one main human. I still hide when strangers visit, or with loud noises.
My favourite place to sleep is right under the quilt cover, during the day in sleep time you will see the cute bump under the cover. I love chasing balls around the house, and spying on birds out the window.
I would suit a quiet home, perhaps just with one person. I wouldn't like living with children. I'm fine with the other cat in the house, very good with my litter tray, and love my food. I need a home where I can minimise my exposure to the sun so that my pale features are protected from sun damage.
Meet me at my foster home in Scarborough.
Health Issues
Mamm has presented with a mild case of gingivitis. Dental hygiene may help prevent its development. There are several measures you can take to improve your new cat's dental health. Ask the cat welfare officer who is assisting you for a dental hygiene handout. We have recommended that she stays on a dental hygiene diet.
Mamm has been in foster care for some time. Her foster carer noticed that she makes a noise when breathing which has been characterised as a stertor (noise created in the nose or the back of the throat). Cat Haven has sent Mamm to have head and chest xrays and these have been evaluated by a specialist radiologist. No abnormalities were found. She has also had her pharynx and larynx assessed under general anaesthesia and again no abnormalities were found. The next step to diagnose what is causing this noise would be to send her for a Cat Scan. Unfortunately Cat Haven cannot afford this procedure and as the cat is not in any distress or discomfort we don't feel that it is indicated.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
