About Austyn *On Trial*
Austyn is a bit of a spunk bubble (he's beginning to know it too!) and has all the ladies (especially the vet nurses at The Unusual Pet Vets) wrapped around his little paw! Austyn was found on the streets of Bertram enjoying his freedom before he was found and taken to a local vet clinic for a microchip check. Sadly, like most cases we see through the rescue, he didn't have a microchip. After an extensive search, his owners were never found! We were lucky to get the call and little Austyn came into our care! As you can see he has been professionally clipped (winter clip) and this is because he was found very matted. Austyn is a Cashmere breed and does have a long and very high maintenance coat. This is something his new owners will need to be aware of and be ready to commit to the maintenance. His long coat does require regular 8-10 week clipping to keep him knot-free and happy - this is not negotiable! We have a special grooming contact who can do this for you, she is mobile and can come to your home. He was a little shy at the start but has really come out of his shell and proven to be a really cheeky little bun. He loves his cardboard boxes, apparently, the higher the boxes are the better! You can hear him zooming around in the cat tunnels and knocking his treat toy wobbler over trying to get the pellet treats :)
Austyn does appear to have been a well-loved pet but somehow found himself on the streets, we are not entirely sure if he wasn't dumped. He was a little underweight but has been making up for lost time and has since put the lost weight back on. Austyn is a small mini lop fluff nugget weighing in at 1.5kg. He doesn't mind being held and carried around and does love his lounge cuddles in his warm cuddle sack! I know spoilt right :)
So far Austyn hasn't been fussy with his food (except snow peas) and has been on a good diet with Science Selective pellets, plenty of fresh oaten hay, a wide variety of vegetables and herbs with some fruit (limited amounts). Although he was without hay for some time whilst out on the streets, he is certainly making up for that loss now! We call him a hay monster for the sheer amount of hay he has been eating since he arrived. Austyn does LOVE dried apple slices and has an epic butt twitch when he gets his treat early!
We estimate Austyn to be very young at only 4-5 months old. Yes, he has been desexed, vaccinated, and microchipped by The Unusual Pet Vets.
Austyn has a very gentle personality and could potentially be bonded to a similar age desexed female or I have no doubt he would LOVE to be a single spoilt bun too where he is the centre of attention 24/7! We are looking for a lovely forever home for Austyn and know the right person or family is out there for him! Ideally, we would be looking for a person or family where Austyn would be indoors (pen setup) and be a part of everyday living.
Austyn's adoption fee is $210 which includes his desexing, vaccination, and microchip at The Unusual Pet Vets.
Medical notes
Austyn has been thoroughly vet checked by The Unusual Pet Vets. No medical concerns noted.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view our beautiful rabbits. We love them all and know you will too!
If you would like to know more about our rescue, the rabbits we have in care or if you are considering adopting one of our precious bunnies - Please contact us via phone or email. After our chat, if it sounds like you might have a suitable home we will email you through a application form to fill in (step 1).
Once we have received your forms, we will then arrange a time for you to meet our rescue rabbit/rabbits (step 2). On occasions (at our discretion) we may organise a house check to ensure that your indoor rabbit setup is safe, secure and in the long term the rabbit will be happy! An adoption fee is paid if you decide you would like to take the rabbit on trial, this is held with us whilst the rabbit is on trial in your home. The trial period is for 2 weeks but this is flexible (step 3). If anytime during the trial you are certain your new family member is going to stay, the decision is made final and we process the adoption and change the microchip details - This makes the adoption official! (step 4). On the other hand, if you have a change of mind or circumstance we ask you to contact us as soon as possible so we can make immediate arrangements for their return to the rescue, the adoption fee is refundable within the trial period.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
