About Connie
Connie is a cute girl who has perfected the art of wearing her ears as a hat. She has a beautiful glossy coat and a goofy nature.
Connie loves food and is easy to train with food-based methods.
Connie has been friendly with the dogs she has met, but can feel nervous with dogs that are big or rude. That being said, once she has made friends, Connie is also quite rude in play! She would be best suited to a dog of a similar size and temperament. However, Connie is used to living as an only dog and can continue living solo in her new home.
Connie has retired from racing and has only spent about 4 weeks living in a home environment. Connie needs a patient home who can teach her the right places to go to the toilet, and rules about human food! She has kept her kennel clean while in care, so it seems she would be easy to toilet train.
While Connie has been good with children, she very much likes to be left alone on her bed when sleeping. As such, she is best suited to a home with children old enough to know how to 'let sleeping dogs lie'.
Connie has a high prey drive and is not suitable to a home with cats. We anticipate she would chase most pocket pets and birds. (She has not shown prey-based behaviour to small dogs.)
While Connie has shown no signs of behavioural problems, she comes with a free consult with Dog Consultancy to help her new people as she settles into her new home, including training for her green collar assessment.
Note that as a purebred greyhound, Connie is legally required to wear a muzzle in public spaces, and is not permitted off lead in public spaces. Her adopter may apply for a green collar exemption, at their expense, if they wish for Connie to walk without a muzzle out and about.
Medical notes
During Connie's racing career, she did receive an break to her front leg. Though her trainer got this injury repaired with surgery and a metal plate, Connie walks today with a limp.
