About Diesel- Dingo Mix
Hi, my name is Diesel, I'm a shy, sweetheart and if you're an experienced dog or dingo owner, I could be your next best mate!
I was rescued from euthanasia at the ninth hour and do have some small behavioural quirks.
I am quite shy with new people at first, especially men, though you will have a friend for life once you have won me over. I would suit a patient female owner with a quiet household and no kids. Once I get to know you, I am a loyal and affectionate cuddle bug who forgets my size and will climb into your lap to shower you with kisses!
I am very clever and know how to sit, shake and am learning to be more consistent with my drop. When we are out walking and am very good at following directions and walk well on lead. I am ok in the car but need more practice to feel comfortable with long car rides.
Given I am a dingo I can not be let off-leash (or I might not come back), though I am very happy to walk along beside you and you could even get a 20m long leads for when we're out and about if you want to let me have more freedom/run.
At the rescue, I live with another small female dingo mix (12kg). I would love a home with another dingo or large dog companion.
If you don't currently have another resident dog/dingo, this is fine too! I would be very happy to be your one and only best buddy.
I am a very good jumper! This means that I will 2m sheer fencing like palings or colorbond or 1.8m fencing with inward-facing curve to prevent climbing.
Note: dingoes are not suitable to live with cats, birds, livestock or other small animals/pocket pets unless kept entirely separate. Dingoes cannot live in apartments and require a large fenced yard or dog enclosure.
Animal rescue is considered essential. SFDR can still come to you for meet and greets, yard checks and animal adoptions. We have volunteers in Canberra and New South Wales and can come to you even if you we are not in your local government area. Distance is not an issue when we are looking for the perfect homes for our dingoes. Please note we have COVID safety measures in place.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Fill out an adoption form and send it back to us with an email outlining anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes require an enclosure or modified fencing.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Gouburn shelter or their foster carers home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We drive dingoes all over NSW and the ACT to meet families interested in adoption.
3. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
