About Ushi
My official name is Ushanka Llama Bobblehead. I generally go by Ushi but "Shishi" has been sneaking in there of late.
Before we go much further you'll notice they've listed me as a "long hair" - which is what I am. The pound shaved me prior to coming into rescue care (which somewhat explains my full given name). You'll be pleased to know that my coat is growing back thick, strong and shiny. Bonus points I'm not adverse to bonding with you via a good grooming session. You're welcome.
This does mean you need to have experience - or be willing to prove without a shadow of a doubt - that you have the means and ability to take care of my full coat. It's not for the feint-hearted and there is no shame if you decide the required upkeep is not for you.
Through lots of detective work my rescue is lucky enough to know some about my background, and where I came from. I came from the home I was bred from, and I was loved. I lived with two other female dogs - one medium, the other ankle biter in size - who used to test my exceptionally high tolerance threshold more often than not. Remembering I am Akita and I was (at that time) an intact female, times would necessitate in me standing up for myself.
Remembering that I was born into this and knew no other way, I've discovered since being in care that I much prefer the title of pampered only child. For individual attention is my air, my lifeblood, my reason for being.
When out and about I'm focused on enjoying my time with my humans. Be it cafe lifestyle, exploring new terrains or your basic walk around the neighbourhood. In general I am non-reactive when other dogs walk by to the point of ignoring them, but a recent experience with an unrestrained dog rushing me out of nowhere and with ill intent has left me a bit jumpy if they approach too fast or I feel threatened. With time and the rebuilding of my confidence I know we'll get past this, together.
It should be obvious by now that my love of humans knows no bounds. Having been exposed to everyone from Primary school age to the elderly/frail I'm all about showering them with the love.
As a result I do have some mild separation anxiety - the easiest fix is that if you can't take me with, leave me inside as I don't like being in the yard alone. I pace back and forth and will cry. And I know you don't want me to cry, right? Actually scratch that, I much prefer living inside, only venturing out to use the facilities. Oh, before I forget those loud booms known as fireworks? I will cry and come find you, sitting quietly by your side when I do.
I've also been known to bark some, but in my defence that's only when a stranger gets close to the house. Once I know you know they're there I will stop.
Coming to you with moderate energy levels, my obedience expertise consists of "Sit", "Leave It", "Come" and I excel at walking on lead. In general I am what's known as a "starter" Akita but at the very least you must be experienced with dogs with similar stereotypical Akita traits and temperament.
Extremely loyal and obedient I am searching for a home where I will be included as a true and valued member of the family. After all, I'll make you my world so I don't think I ask too much expecting the same in return. The only - and most important - question you must now ask yourself is "can YOU and ME become WE?
**PLEASE NOTE**
Ushi is available for interstate adoption with a caveat. You will need to escort her home with you by road - a plane ride would not be her idea of a good time.
