About Lightning
Like many before him, Lightning was a race dog with a large number of starts but very little success. It was his time now to find his forever home.
Considering that Lightning had never been exposed to house life, his first day into foster care proved to be a breeze. He quickly made friends with the house greys, easily adapted to his surroundings, ate his meal without fuss, knew to go outside for his toileting and settled down at sleep time.
After spending his first night at his new foster home, Lightning went on his morning walk with another grey and apart from the first couple of minutes of uncertainty, he settled down and was easy to walk. He is now that calm that our 11 year old grandson easily walked him without any stress. By late afternoon on his second day at home he was so confident that he started playing with fluffy toys and having tugs of war with his companions.
Later that afternoon, he was taken to the local beach but the waves made him a bit nervous however on taking him to a sheltered location he was more than happy to have a paddle. On further trips to the beach, he loves nothing more than running and jumping in the sea, a real water baby. And now in his new foster home, Lightning (or Bob as he has affectionately renamed) spends the warm parts of the day with his feet in the shell wading pool.
For the short time that he has been in foster care, he has shown himself to be very affectionate and we feel confident that Lightning will make a lovely pet. .
Before being placed into Gippsland Greyhounds, he had been exposed to his owner/trainers’ five children and his liking of children is very evident, loving nothing more than their company enjoying pats and cuddles.
The only little issue that we have found so far is that he does not know how to jump into the back of a car but we are sure that this will easily rectify with bribery of treats.
Please note that the reason that Lightning is wearing a muzzle is to prevent him liking at a graze on his shoulder
