About Chardonnay
PURSONALITY TRAITS
Hi my name is Chardonnay .. but my foster mum calls me Mr Chardonnay as I am not a girl!
I am not such a big fella, but what I don't have in size, I have in loveliness. I am a very handsome tuxedo cat.
I am a little bit shy and a little bit timid. Once I know you that are not a dangerous person I will start to be friendly and not hide from you. I do startle from sudden movement though. If I have the opportunity to hide under the bed, I will when I feel that the world is too scary.
I love to play . My favourite is a small furry ball with a rattle noise. I also love a rattly mouse on a stick. I love to run and skid across the shiny wooden floor. I have even played fetch before with my ball. I love to play in the cat tunnel. Laser toys are really cool too. Have I said that I love to play? I really do want you to know this.
A play at night before bed is expected..... and a lovely treat to follow is always appreciated. You then find that I am happy to sleep all night on the bed (in my own spot). I am not in the habit of waking you up for food
I may come up sometimes to lie next to you. In the morning I will come and say hello and have a pat. I might even lie on your feet /legs. Sometimes I might like to pounce on your toes. I do give love bites, but never are they hard. Sometimes I chase foster mum and chase her ankles and give her a pat to come and play .... But I am always very gentle and cute.
I like to be around my foster mum. Whether she is working at the computer, cooking in the kitchen, watching TV or out in the garden (I watch her through the window/door).... I am a great companion. I have a very soft miaow , but I don't do that often. You can pick me up to show me things .
I have seen the specialist vet for a freckle mark in my eye. She wants to see me again in a few months .... to check that it is not anything nasty happening.
I would suit a quiet household as noises and people are a still a little weird. I have made such great progress being with my foster mum - I am so much braver now.
Please come and meet me at my foster home in Yokine.
Health Issues
Chardonnay has a small lesion on the eye known as iris pigmintation. Often this sort of lesion is benign and is unlikely to cause any visual defects. Occasionally, iris pigmentation can progress to a type of cancer called melanoma. It is always important to monitor iris pigmentation for changes in size, shape and color over time. He has seen a specialist ophthalmologist to assess the pigmentation and rule out any concerns at this time. The specialist could not be certain whether the pigmentation is benign, or if it is an early iris melanoma (cancer). She recommended rechecking the eye in 6 months (at your expense), earlier if it is obviously changing.
Chardonnay has also presented with a mild case of gingivitis. Dental hygiene may help prevent its development. There are several measures you can take to improve your new cat's dental health.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
