About Yana
My name is Yana and I am a seventeen month old Black German Shepherd. My owners have had to make the hard decision to find me a new home.
I have recently been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and have had surgery and am running around like a new dog. I am currently living with another desexed male shepherd and enjoy playing chasing and chilling out with him. I am totally house trained and enjoy my morning walks and the joy of a swim in the nearby river. I love the beach and have learnt to body surf the waves.
My foster carer has taught me to be gentle in her home and I sit at her feet when she is busy on the computer typing. I wake her gently each morning with a lick and smoochie kiss
I would be better suited to a home with either a single person or family with teenage children that have recently owned a German Shepherd.
I will definitely need a home where I will be an integral family member.
I have been living with a foster carer near Buladelah (two hours north of Sydney) for a while now and have revealed that I am very clever and a loving companion. I am very affectionate and eager to bond, and a bit of a cuddle monster.
I have good recall and am learning manners such as sitting on my matt and waiting to be invited to get out of the car, and no jumping on the furniture.
I am not high maintenance or laden with high energy. A series of smaller walks during the day keep me happy and my favourite activity is to sit beside my foster mum whilst she works.
I am a smaller sized Shepherd who has a beautiful silky coat that hardly sheds at all. I love car rides and am friendly towards new people including older children and dogs. I am living with an older chilled out male German Shepherd. At day care I have proved myself as quite a socialite. I haven't been tested with cats or pocket pets.
I am super smart (my foster mum also says so) at learning new tasks like swimming in a river and st the beach, which I love, also sitting on my foster mum's paddle board.
Intelligence, loyalty, love and companionship is what I will give in abundance when I connect and build that trust with my new owner.
If you understand the nature of the German Shepherd, have recently owned a German Shepherd, and are looking for a companion dog then please consider me.
If you think you can give me a new home please contact us by selecting "Enquire about this Pet".
Medical notes
Yana is microchipped, vaccinated and desexed.
Yana has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and in the future may need surgery to the left hip. Her full medical history is available.
Yana has recently had a femoral head ostectomy on the right hip. This is a surgical operation to remove the head and neck from the femur. She has recovered very well.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
