About Oscar
Our current little senior is Sir Oscar, a 13 year old distinguished gent with lots of love to give and, despite being on the older end of the age spectrum, he still has energy to burn.
Sir Oscar isn’t letting old age slow him down – he thoroughly enjoys his daily walks to the shops or around the block. Although he has a zest for life, he doesn’t always know when his body has had enough and does need his human to step in and remind him that rest is important. When an adventure is on the cards but walking might be a bit much, Sir Oscar is also quite happy to go for a meander in his chariot (AKA doggy pram). Because he is so keen to use his little legs to propel him onwards to whatever exciting thing might be around the corner, his new family will need to keep working on his leash manners – a slow walking pace is something that Sir Oscar hasn’t fully grasped yet.
As you may have expected, Sir Oscar came into care with Hear No Evil because he has some sensory issues – his hearing isn’t great and he has limited vision. However, this never prevents him from being the first dog in his foster home to race towards the sound of the pantry door opening or to hear the rustle of a bag of chips. Sir Oscar loves his food but (unsurprisingly!) his passion is treats. He is very enthusiastic about treat time and is always first in line, even if that means he has to push others out of the way. Like most small dogs, Sir Oscar has no concept of his size and seems to think he’s a 50kg giant adolescent and not a 10kg tiny senior. When instructed to, he’ll take his treats or chews back to his bed to eat there. Sir Oscar also displays his perfect meal-time manners by sitting and waiting before his meals.
When it comes to bedding preferences, Sir Oscar is a bit of a Goldilocks - he likes variety and is keen to test out all available bedding options before picking a favourite. Like the privileged pooch that he is, he likes to be tucked into bed each night. He would love a home where he could sleep on his human’s bed or on a comfy doggy bed in the same room. Sir Oscar loves to potter around the garden before snoozing away the afternoon in his favourite sunny spot. He will even drag a blanket or bed to this spot for ultimate comfort.
Our lovely Sir Oscar has the impressive social skills one would expect from a member of the upper-class - he is a social butterfly and loves to engage with people, cats and dogs and is very well-behaved around all. He currently shares his foster home with a blind blue heeler and several foster kittens and cats and quite enjoys his daily life with the various courtiers who help to keep him entertained. Sir Oscar has sufficient manners and self-control to not chase his feline courtiers and of course loves it when they groom him. In his mind, they are showing him the respect and adoration he deserves!!
Sir Oscar doesn’t cope well with change and can become unsettled when his routine is broken. A stable routine, plenty of mental stimulation and respecting but not babying Sir Oscar will ensure he is able to settle well into his forever home.
An unfortunate side of ageing (and something that afflicts even the best of us in our later years) is that bladder control can become a problem. Whilst Sir Oscar is aware of where he should toilet, if he doesn’t have regular access outside then he may have an accident. A doggy door would assist Sir Oscar in reducing any inadvertent toileting accidents.
Because he deserves a comfortable and spoiled retirement and one in a home that will support him as an older gentleman, Sir Oscar is best suited to a home where his family work part time or are home more often than not. It will come as no surprise when we say that Sir Oscar isn’t an outdoor-only dog, he must be allowed inside when he pleases and must be included in the day-to-day activities of his family.
Medical notes
Sir Oscar is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and has also had a specialist ophthalmological consult for his eyes. Potential adopters will be talked through the management of his eyes to ensure that he’s kept as comfortable as possible for as long as possible and can enjoy every moment of his well-deserved retirement.
He does have some skin sensitivities and will need to remain on a premium diet (as if anything less would be suitable for such a distinguished gentleman!). He would also benefit from joint supplements. We’re happy to discuss these requirements, along with everything else to do with Sir Oscar with anyone who is serious about offering our special senior his perfect retirement home.

Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application, and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
