About Matlock
Hi, my name's Matlock, but my friends call me Matty.
I like food.
When I first arrived at my foster mum's I was very scared. I'd been out on the streets since goodness knows how long and was very skinny and didn't like to be touched at all. But then my foster mum gave me lots of food. I like food.
As time has progressed I have learnt to trust my foster mum and her friends when they come to visit and even like being stroked. If you start scratching behind my ear, my back leg starts twitching up as if it's me doing it!
I like playing in the tunnel mostly cos my foster mum puts treats in there for me to go and get and when I come out she gives me a treat for being a good boy. I like treats. I also like playing with ping pong balls. But only if they are batted to me, and I will bat them back if I'm lying on my side. I'm pretty lazy, so if it goes further than I can reach, then you'll have to go and get them for me. I also like it when my foster mum plays with a ball full of treats, cos sometimes a treat or two will fall out. I could probably do it myself, but I can't be bothered cos mum does it enough. I like treats.
I'm not a cat lap, despite my mum's efforts of putting treats on her legs for me to eat when we're sat on the floor playing...I like treats...but I don't stay there once I've eaten them. I don't climb on the furniture at all and it took ages for me to realise I could sit on the cat mat. My foster mum put it against the window, but it was too far away from her so I gradually pulled it over in a week so now I'm next to her when she's working. I'm not a cuddly cat and I yelp at anybody trying to pick me up.
But I do like being stroked.
My foster mum says I have to tell you that my poo is very, very, very stinky. I believe Phoebe in Friends wrote a song about me.
I'm not a morning person which really suits my foster mum cos she's not a morning person either. I don't meow or pester you to get up, I'll just wait at the bottom of the bed until you're ready to get up and feed me. But I do like food.
Did I mention that I like food?
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
