About Alvin
Alvin is a timid boy who gets frightened easily by sudden movement or noise. He thinks he is in trouble. Alvin gets spooked by sounds and strangers and then just wants to get back into the car, where he is comfortable. He is not reactive to dogs or people off site. He is currently undergoing training to improve his comfort zones. Alvin is an active boy who needs an experienced family to teach him to walk on lead calmly and give him basic obedience. He sits on command.
Walkers say "A little nervous at first but really warmed up to us over time. Beautiful dog, so sweet”, "Great little personal trainer - was like a machine today! Sweet boy. Didn't mind stopping when asked to heel. He would love a good run or fast jog. which I didn't expect! easily spooked. Likes calm gentle handling. Looks to me for guidance"
He has a short coat and weighs 17.6kg.
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
Suit Part Time Worker: Copes alone for short periods, with training possibly longer but presently does need someone home part of the time.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: Many people grow up with, or own a dog who has had no bad experiences in life. A dog who is confident and well rounded. However, many rescue dogs have not been as lucky in their lives.
These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience and an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Medical notes
He comes desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm free and microchipped. Also included for the love and health of our dogs is a free Health and Wellness Voucher with our DR Vet.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
