About Oreo, Rose & Scarlett
Oreo, Rose and Scarlett are brother and sisters who showed up suddenly, arranged like garden gnomes, in our foster carer's backyard. They were born as strays in the wild and desperate for food, and were very fluffy, to try and stay warm during the winter cold they were living through. They were eating mice and things in an empty block of land opposite the carers place, that has overgrown grass. Our foster carer took them in and has looked after them since for a few years, where they have transformed from being naturally very skittish and apprehensive around humans, to loving the attention. It took months of feeding them nightly in his backyard before they became trusting enough that he could take them in. They will still be wary around new people, but once they get to know you, they are incredibly gentle and sweet and all the more appreciative and affectionate with the person who is patient with them.
Oreo is a big burly boy, the most extroverted of the bunch, and enjoys a bit of rough housing, as well as mountains of food. He is the most comfortable with being picked up and will sit in the cradle of your arms while you nuzzle noses. He loves to rub up against your leg and will often plonk heavily on to his side, hoping for belly rubs. He also has a tendency to pull something out of your laundry pile to take with him as a blanket when you're out and he's missing you. Oreo is the one with an all black face.
Rose is gentle and thoughtful with everything she does. She will sometimes slowly reach her paw out towards you, while locking eyes, wanting you to bend down to rub cheeks. Her licks are soft and gentle, her movements are graceful. And at times she can become almost addicted to rubbing her face against yours, following you around with a quiet meow when you get up and she's still craving more. She has had a rough time, almost dying due to refusing to eat while she had severe cat flu. But she pulled through after being in a vet's care for a few weeks and loves nothing more than to be encircled with your arms while she dozes off. Rose is the one with an all white face.
Scarlett has shy eyes and is often reluctant to cause a fuss. Yet you can still tell that this isn't due to lack of wanting attention. She will frequently rub against doorways and corners, just out of arm's reach, while looking at you, wanting pats but not wanting to initiate them herself. She enjoys affection probably more than any of the others, feeling very comfortable and safe on beds and blankets, where she likes to be held while a hand constantly rubs her belly or scratches her head. When she does feel safe, she's the most likely to invade your personal space, hopping up on your lap and curling into a ball in the crook of your arm or legs while you sleep. She will also lick your hand endlessly and look at your adoringly when you let her groom you that way. Scarlett is the one with a white patch over just her nose.
As these three have spent their whole lives together and truly are family, we are looking for a forever home that would want to care for them as a trio. They will sleep together in a huddle and lick each other's foreheads clean, and would enjoy being able to see each other in the morning if they can.
