About Zac
This big guy is Zac, he’s 6 years old and certainly a giant smoocher! Zac has lived on property all his life and whilst he’s not high energy, it does suit him well. Zac gets very excited when the quad bike starts and loves to have a little run alongside it. Walking suburban streets on lead is not something Zac enjoys and therefore it only makes sense for him to have his own space to run and play with his human.
Free range chickens haven’t been a problem for Zac to socialise with and he has a very good feline friend that he lives with. We are hopeful he could do the same with another dog savvy cat. We’re not sure if a cat will be enough company given what he’s used to, he will need owners who are home most of the time. Zac is well past the destructive stage and whilst still playful, he’s pretty mellow most of the day. Zac could make a retiree on rural property very happy. He’s a brilliant guard dog and loves one on one time.
Off lead dog parks and the like are not suitable for Zac as he’s not socialised with dogs outside his home. It would be very unfair to put him in situations where strange dogs could approach him.
Zac is a sensitive lad and can get quite unsettled around new people and children so he will not be considered for a home with kids or lots of new visitors. He needs a confident, patient and experienced handler to gain his confidence and trust. Thunderstorms are difficult for Zac and he needs to be indoors to keep safe and help him cope.
This big boy is definitely an inside dog expecting all the creature comforts a Great Dane requires. Zac will happily oblige when told to ‘do wees’ outside before bedtime. He will lather on the love and sit on your lap all day long if he could. We know Great Dane snuggles are super easy to take, however, we do feel it’s important he finds a human or two to provide leadership, rules and boundaries to keep him on track.
