About Simba
Background:
2 ½ year old Simba is ready for a forever home after being in foster care for 4 months. They are currently with their foster mummy April at her home in Meadowbank.
They were with their previous foster dad who had to move abroad. He did say that "if circumstances had been different he would have loved to have given them a forever home"
Simba (along with his sister Narla) was rescued, loved, and cared for by Norma in her backyard until they were 2 years, but Norma was unable to give them the security of being indoor cats. Their stray mother cat was run over and Norma didn't want these treasure to be in any danger.
We were originally going to rehome Simba along with his more confident sister Narla but realised they weren't a bonded pair. We felt it best to split them up as Narla was more dominate and we felt he would blossom either going to a home by himself or even to a home with a younger playful kitten. We realised that they were polar opposites in personality and aren't inseparable. They do get along as you will see with some of the videos shown here. However, we feel the dynamics have changed somewhat since they have been in foster care for the past 6 months. It seems they were definitely more bonded before foster care. It seems that Simba has been upstaged by his more confident sister.
Narla has since been rehomed and even has her own Instagram page nalaandnat.
Simba is quiet, reserved, timid, and wiley. Simba needs stability and humans who will patiently wait for him to feel more relaxed and comfortable with a new home. He's quite happy to chill out in his comfy bed when he's not with Narla who divides her days between her human contact and time with her more reserved brother.
His foster mum messaged this morning "Simba is being quite social and playful this morning. He came up on the bed again this morning and was more relaxed. He is very curious and does watch what I do at arm's reach. I make sure when I feed him and give him treats that I put the food as close to me as possible and sit with him. He is extremely playful when I'm not around or asleep so he'll make good company for another younger playful cat/kitten when humans aren't around. He will come around to be a bit more human friendly with patience, he gets so close to me sometimes but just won't let me touch him. He will come up and sniff my hand when I put it out. So for right now he'll make a great play buddy. They love their soft toys to chew on and the laser light to chase."
We think Simba would be suited to a quiet home with either a couple or a single person. Because Simba is more reserved we feel he would not be suitable to a family with young children. April thinks that Simba would be a great playmate for another kitten as well.
Medical notes
