About Wally
Hi it’s Wally here. Can you help me? See I’ve been looking for a home of my own for months now and I can’t understand why nobody wants me. Perhaps they just haven’t found me yet?
I was feeling pretty bummed until I read what my foster mum wrote about me. I don’t want to brag but she called me Mr Personality! And here’s what else she said “He is the most beautiful, loyal, loving goofball of a dog. Nudges you for cuddles, talks to you and does this amazing ‘happy dance’. He is a boy who will always be your companion and never leave your side, such a joyous boy. I would have kept him in a heartbeat if my circumstances had been different”.
See? I good boy!
I am a mastiff x and I think I’m about 5 years old. I was abandoned on the highway between Wallaroo and Kadina a few months ago. I tried to be brave but it was pretty scary and it’s taken a while for me to regain my confidence. I also haven’t had much exposure to many things in the world. My foster mum said I was great with children, but given my size Be The Change Animal Shelter (BTC) reckons I’d be best with a family without young kids. Also coz things are all a bit new to me I’m looking for a home without other pets.
I also got this thingy called hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is graded in severity from 1 being mild to a 4 which is severe and I’m at a 2/3. I need medication for the rest of my life and need to go to the vet every 6 months for a review. Sounds bad but in reality, the medication really helps me and I’m still really active. In fact, BTC says I am a strong boy on the lead so have to go to a home where someone can handle a big boy like me. BTC has even offered to pay for my medication.
So in a nutshell here’s what my furever home might look like:
- Someone who is retired or works from home or part-time
- Someone who owns their own home (I need stability in my life)
- No other pets (I’m still getting used to stuff)
- No small children (I’m a bit clumsy)
- Large dog experience and strong handler (I’m a big boy)
- Someone who wants to be loved and likes giving pats and cuddles
I’m even happy to go on a trial with you – I’m know I can win you over – just give me a chance. Pretty please with slobber on top. Love Wally
Medical notes
Poor Wally has been exhibiting some signs of pain in his hind legs so he went off for x rays last week which have shown that Wally has hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is graded in severity from 1 being mild to a 4 which is severe and Wally is sitting at a 2/3. This means that Wally will require life time medication. He is responding really well to pain relief and will be visiting the vet for 6 monthly reviews unless his condition worsens.
Adoption details
If you are interested in one of our animals please phone or send an email to rescue@btcanimalshelter.com.au and we will reply as soon as possible.
A questionnaire will need to be completed which will allow us to ensure we are placing our animals into the right home. Once the completed questionnaire is received, we will respond by email / phone call to discuss the animal in further detail, and answer any other questions you may have. Please note that completing the questionnaire does not place you under any obligation to adopt. We can arrange a meet and greet for you (and existing pets) to spend some time with the pet and see if they are likely to fit into your life.
If you decide to adopt, payment is made and you can welcome your new pet into your life!
We offer a 2 week trial period.
