About Curious George
Hi there! My name is Curious George (you can call me George - I know my name very well and I answer to it).
I am a curious young man who loves to learn. I think I'm about 10 months old, which makes me a cheeky teenager! I don't really know exactly how old I am because I was born in the wild. One day, when I was about five months old, I got curious about chicken farming. I enquired about starting an apprenticeship at the chicken farm, but the farmer didn't think it was a good idea, and I got trapped instead! But that's ok, because I ended up safe and warm at the Cat Haven, where I didn't have to work hard for my food, they just gave it to me!
I've been in a foster home for about 3 months now and I've been working so hard on learning to be a house cat. You see, it is really hard work for me as I'm used to the freedom of the wild and doing my own thing. My foster mum and her family have spent lots of time working with me every day and each day I have slowly made progress. They are so proud of me as I was a terrified, hissy wild boy when I first came to live with them.
Here are some of the things I'm really good at and I love to do:
• Playing with toys, lots of toys! I love attacking catnip toys, chasing light-up wands and flicking bell balls. I'm really good at ping-pong ball soccer! Ping-pong balls are my fav!
• Using a cat tree/tower for climbing and scratching. I don't scratch any furniture in my living area, but I do love running around all over it when I'm doing zoomies! So, you may want to put your expensive vases away!
• I'm a cat's cat! Or even a dog's cat! I love my furry foster brothers and sisters so much. I'm living with three cats and a small dog (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) in my foster home. I absolutely adore all of them. I follow them around, sleep with them and give them lots of head rub snuggles. With a nice slow introduction, I think I would definitely like to live with other animals and be their best friend and companion!
• I'm a chatty boy, especially at dinner time! I've learned to ask nicely for my dinner by rubbing against the human's legs and chirping when they ask if I'd like something to eat. It's super cute and I get lots of praise when I talk!
• I am super food motivated, which is good for my training.
• I'm gorgeous! I mean look at me! I have a cute but grumpy teddy bear face, with the most stunning tabby coat! I have black toe beans and black fur under my feet, which is super cute against my wild kitty coat patterns!
• Once I get to know you, I am quite trusting. I will roll over and show you my fluffy tummy, and also show you some cute, playful kitty behaviours.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
