SPECIAL OFFER: Simba will attend Bear the Dog BEHAVORIST for several days prior to go to his forever home for a REFRESHER COURSE with Bear (Worth $300).
I believe he would enjoy being an only dog more than having to share you with an existing doggo.
Simba is a loving boy, he loves to just hang out with you. Whether or not it's a walk on the beach or around the suburbs, he's happy to be out and about with you. Loves a cuddle on the lounge with you at night, but if he gets hot, he'll move to the floor. He does love to rest on the arm of the large (see photo) showing off his goofiness! He's so cheeky and funny, it's all in the looks he gives you. His favorite toy is the 'rope' which he wants you to play tug-o-war with him.
He's a smart boy, he responds to positive training. He is there to please you and just you. He has good basic training, e.g. sit, shake, No, walk on, stop, night night (at bed time).
Simba walks well on lead and has received training with Bear the Dog Behavorist for being reactive to other dogs while on his walk. TO HELP WITH THIS, SIMBA WILL GO TO BEAR THE DOG BEHAVIORIST FOR SEVERAL DAYS JUST PRIOR TO BEING ADOPTED.
He's housetrained. Remember, a dog may regress in their housetraining for a short period of time due to being in an unfamiliar place.
Simba is playful but not all day long. He loves a run around the backyard, especially if you throw his ball and then to have quiet time looking at the world go by from the balcony or window with a view.
Raised with boys aged 11, 15 and 17, so he is used to a busy and active household. He's been on a raw diet "Raw & Fresh).
He sleeps through the night easily, sleeping on his own bed. There must be good boundaries setup to let Simba know he is to sleep on his bed and not his humans bed. If allowed to sleep on the bed it will confuse the hierarchy order in the pack.
Tummy rums are his favorite and if you stop, he'll nudge you with his paw to let you know he'd like some more please.
All dogs bark and Simba will bark if someone comes to the door or if he hears a sudden loud noise in the backyard. He doesn't bark at lawn mowers etc. It is usually only a short bark and then stops. Occasionally I need to let him know that he needs to stop and he does.
Visitors are greeted with a bit of excitement. This needs to be managed so Simba knows that he needs to be calm when meeting a visitor. I have managed this by putting him on lead. Crate training him would also help Simba to remain calm when visitors arrive.
SUITABILITY:
He would suit a part-time worker or someone who works from home several days a week. He does not bark or cry when you are out. Simba would greatly benefit from an owner who has previously owned an American Staffordshire or large breed dog.
A family with teenagers would also suit Simba but not primary school age children due to his strength. 5ft fencing would be fine, as long as the gates are locked for his security. He does NOT jump fences.
NEW OWNER REQUIREMENTS:
A new owner for Simba must have previous experience with large breed dogs and be able to provide good leadership and boundaries for Simba. Without firm boundaries Simba may become confused and feel unsafe, which translates to uncertainty and he will bark at other dogs when walking.
