About Joey
Joey came to Cat Haven in November as a stray with no history -- we have no idea where he came from! He was pretty mad about being stuck in the shelter, so we got him into a foster home real quick.
It took Joey two months to even begin to settle in. During that time he really loved to play, but wouldn't accept pats and wouldn't come out from the corner he hid in. He was a grumpy boy, but we played with him and gave him treats anyway and eventually he realized that we weren't so bad!
We rearranged some of his furniture and began to introduce him to our cats and that was when we saw him change completely! From spitting and lashing out to suddenly smoochy, almost overnight! He's still very independent, but now he loves a good chin scratch and smooch session before and after food and play time.
Joey had his leg amputated in late April due to severe osteoarthritis and is adjusting to being a tripod. He still likes to play and get a scratch, though! He's a very handsome boy who would suit a quiet, mature home with people who love cats and understand their weird personalities. He's basically like a super chill housemate who is fun to hang out with when you feel like it but doesn't make a nuisance of himself when you're not in the mood!
Joey LOVES our 6-month old kitten, and he's been generally friendly with our other cats. He may get along with other cats in your home given a slow introduction and access to his own space.
If Joey sounds like the cat for you, you can arrange a virtual meet and greet or you can visit him in his foster home in Craigie!
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
